Does your closet feel disorganized and cluttered? Get organized with these 5 tips!
Tip 1:
Hang your clothes according to style. Group together all of your long sleeves, short sleeves and tank tops, before arranging them according to color. For long pants, hang them in the closet or fold them before placing on a shelf or in a dresser. To keep your accessories neat and organized you can use a rack or hooks. Once your closet is complete, getting ready will never be easier. You may even find items you forgot you had!
Tip 2:
Baskets. Coming in all shapes, sizes, and styles baskets are a great way to organize your closet. From colorful cloth baskets to neutral wicker baskets, they can store items such as scarves, hats, or extra linens. Built-in or store-bought shelving will allow for baskets to be accommodated. This will prevent miscellaneous items from cluttering and taking up space throughout your closet.
Tip 3:
Relocate your dresser. If your closet is large enough, move your dresser inside or use built-in drawers. This not only allows for extra space in your bedroom, but it will also centralize everything needed to get dressed into one location.
Tip 4:
Keep your shoes off the floor. When it comes to storing your shoes, there are several options. We would recommend purchasing a shoe rack or having one built-in that is flat against the wall. Next, sort through your shoes and remove any you do not wear. Categorize the remaining shoes by activity, dress shoes, athletic sneakers, sandals, etc, before placing them on the shoe rack This will allow for you to easily find the perfect shoes for your outfit. The only possible exception are boots. Boots are a trickier subject, due to their length and shape. Try hanging your boots with special boot hangers or having a taller shelf built-in. To avoid wrinkles in your boots, keep them upright and fill each with rolled magazines or a cut pool noodle.
Tip 5:
Built-in shelving. To maximize your closet space, install built-in shelving. This will allow your closet to feel less cluttered and more organized. When choosing your built-ins consider which items make-up the largest amount of your wardrobe. This enables all closet space to be utilized to its fullest potential. There are a variety of options to fit your needs. Once your closet is installed follow tips one through four to assist with set up! Assign sunglasses and jewelry to smaller drawers, special places for your favorite purses, shoe organizers, room to hang long pants, dresses and so much more!
